What will the cryptocurrency market look like in 2030? They estimate a value of $10 trillion
Current trends suggest that the cryptocurrency market is experiencing dynamic development and could gain momentum in the coming years. According to a recent report by OKX, compiled by The Economist, it is estimated that the value of the digital asset market could exceed an impressive $10 trillion by 2030.
Currently, the market value of cryptocurrencies is around $2 trillion. This growth points to a growing trend of investment allocation to digital assets. By 2027, institutional investors are expected to increase their exposure to these assets from the current 1-5% to 7% of their portfolios.
The report highlights that institutional investors are looking to diversify their portfolios and are seeking new investment vehicles beyond traditional cryptocurrencies. These instruments include mortgages, crypto derivatives and tokenized bonds. However, there are also significant barriers that could hinder the wider adoption of digital assets, such as fragmented liquidity and inconsistent regulation.
The growing interest of investment firms and banking clients in digital assets is leading to the creation of new investment products. These innovations include exchange-traded funds (ETFs), exchange-traded bonds, decentralised blockchain platforms under Web 3.0 and even crypto-phones. Thijs van Boven, head of digital asset trading at VanEck, pointed to the growing demand for these innovative products and highlighted how they play a key role in meeting the needs of an ever-changing market.
Graphene Investments CEO, Ataf Ahmed, said, "As real assets become tokenised, most portfolios will start to include some form of digital assets. We expect that most central bank securities, bonds and digital currencies will eventually make their way onto the blockchain."
In conclusion, the future of the cryptocurrency market looks promising, and as digital assets become an increasingly integrated part of investment strategies, their importance can only be expected to grow.
